Catherine watt’s dangerous actions could cost the city of clemson millions of dollars
Over recent years, an image of mayoral candidate and current city councilwoman Catherine Watt has emerged, and recently, that picture has come into sharp focus. Watt has shown herself to be unprofessional, duplicitous, vitriolic, and erratic.
In her “Stop the Hub” campaign, Watt disclosed sensitive legal details related to the Hub development and the Keowee Trail lawsuit to PAC supporters and a local newspaper. This reckless behavior could cost the City of Clemson millions, while still being unlikely to prevent the land’s development.
Through a developer-backed PAC, Watt has made baseless accusations against the current mayor and council members, alleging secretive dealings with developers. When faced with the facts, she resorts to name-calling instead of addressing the issues at hand.
Catherine Watt lacks the stability and professionalism needed for the role of mayor, and she should not continue to serve on the city council.

The Post and Courier has a detailed article on Catherine Watt’s actions and the implications for the City of Clemson.
After being confronted with evidence of her misconduct, Catherine Watt resorts to name-calling
During the October 21, 2024 city council meeting, Catherine Watt made a derogatory remark, calling a fellow council member a “piece of shit” after he made a statement supported by evidence about her conduct.
You can watch the incident at 48:58 in the video which is available on the city’s YouTube channel.
Catherine Watt misleads voters
More False Claims from Councilwoman Watt and Save Clemson highlights several errors and misleading statements from candidate Catherine Watt and her supporters. The mailers from Watt and Save Clemson spread false information about the Hub development, including an inflated $350 million project cost and a misinterpretation of council authority. Here’s the truth:
Watt’s campaign frequently distorts facts, promoting risky proposals that might lead to costly city lawsuits. Voters should carefully evaluate these claims and find reliable information.

- The Hub’s alleged $350 million valuation is unsubstantiated.
- Variances are approved by the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA), not the council, and any council interference would be inappropriate and potentially illegal.
- The Hub project can proceed per the planned development document without needing variances; council review is only necessary if developers request major amendments.

more than poor judgement…
Through her choices, such as leaking sensitive city information and fueling lawsuits that could possibly strain community resources for years to come, she has demonstrated a pattern of prioritizing selfish agenda over her constituents’ trust and well-being. Beyond that, she has massive personal disdain for may of her constituents.

Some excerpts from Catherine Watt’s X account (@cwatt67):
THIS IS NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION. If you want to
live in a religious state, go to Israel, Iran, or
Afghanistan.
If someone tells me they are a “Christian,” I know
that tends to mean they are trumpers and nothing
at all like Jesus. I’ve noticed more people
identifying as specifically “Lutheran” or other to
clarify.
I’m [sic] case you haven’t noticed, “Christians” think
they are better than the rest of us.
Have you been to Pickens, SC? No, didn’t think so.
This is his base, hate filled, white supremacists. A
small lake in a long-red, long-poor, fear-filled state.
Exactly. Republican women are mostly in need of
deep psychological counseling.
My people in SC, who select “straight party
republican” without one flit of a thought.
Cockroaches think more about their dinner.
White women will destroy democracy. Too many I
know are trumpers.
